Two dead after trailer hits father, his three children

Two people died on Tuesday morning in a road accident involving a trailer and a motorbike at Kachok area along the Kisumu – Nairobi highway.

A man was ferrying three of his children on a motorbike, two of whom he was taking to school, when a speeding trailer rammed into the bike.

Two of the children, a son in Class Five and a 20-year-old boy who completed secondary school last year, died on the spot.

The father and his daughter, who is in Class Four, sustained serious injuries and were admitted at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to eye witnesses, the motorbike and the trailer were heading into Kisumu town.

The driver of the trailer attempted to speed off after the accident but was nabbed by irate residents who roughed him up before he was rescued by police.

He was also rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital with serious injuries he sustained from the thorough beating by the locals. The truck was towed to Kondele Police Station.
