Two dead following heavy rains in Migori

At least two people died after a housed collapsed on them following heavy rains and strong winds that hit Mukuyu area of Migori County.

The deceased, a 53-year-old man identified as John Chacha, died after he was slammed hard on the head by a roof top that was being blown away by the strong winds.

His eight year old nephew also died after being buried in a house after collapsing.

According to Vincent Mwekeba, the brother to the deceased, Chacha was walking out of the house when the unfortunate incident happened.

This comes even as the Meteorological Department issued an advisory to the public outlining the odd climatic conditions with some areas experiencing harsh hot climate whilst others deal with low climatic conditions.

The South Rift, Western Kenya and parts of Nyanza experienced moderate rainfall while areas like Kakamega County recorded the highest rainfall over the past week at 19.8 milimetres.

Kisii County also recorded the second highest level of rainfall at 15.4 milimetres when Narok and Kericho counties followed suit with an 8.7 milimetres and 6.1 milimetres respectively.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Migori County Referral Mortuary.
