Two dead in Christmas Day accident on Nairobi-Kangundo road

Two people died while another was seriously injured after a motorcycle collided with a 14-seater matatu along Kagundo Road in Nairobi on Monday, December 25.

Area OCPD Samuel Anampiu confirmed that the accident occurred at the Quarry area near Malaa market along the Kangundo-Nairobi road.

The motorcycle, which was trying to overtake, was carrying two passengers when it collided with the matatu belonging to KAM Sacco that plies the Nairobi-Kangundo route. No one from the matatu was injured in the accident.

This comes even as the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) heightened its operations in Nairobi and its environs during the Christmas period.

The roads regulatory body is aiming to curb road carnage by nabbing road users who flout traffic regulations such as operating without proper licensing, or driving while drunk.

According to NTSA, roadblocks will be mounted in different parts of Nairobi and its environs to ensure sanity on the road especially during the fall of darkness.
