Two dead in multiple vehicles accident in Nakuru

Two men died on the spot while two others were critically injured and rushed to the Rift Valley Provincial Hospital in Nakuru following a grisly road accident involving four vehicles; two buses, a truck and saloon car in Rongai area of Nakuru County.

According to passengers of the Mvumilivu bus (one of the buses involved in the accident), their driver and that of the saloon car were speeding before the 4:00AM accident.

Annette Khamukicha, a mother of a seven-year-old girl, cited dangerous speeding as the cause of the accident, saying that she felt scared throughout the journey.

”It almost looked inevitable that something bad would happen,” Annette said.

Rongai OCPD Joseph Mwamburi said that traffic officers in Salgaa have launched a major crackdown on speeding vehicles, holding hundreds of vehicles at the Salgaa Police Station for various traffic offences by the mid-morning Wednesday, 27th.

The over hundred passengers who survived the accident unscathed remained stranded for long hours before the companies of their various passenger Service Vehicles (PSVs) sent rescue teams to pick them up.
