Two dead, several injured in road accident

Two women are feared dead and several other passengers sustained serious injuries after a matatu they were travelling in was involved in a tragic road accident at Odongo junction along the Bondo-Usenge Road in Siaya County.

The matatu, which was heading to Usenge from Bondo town, is said to have veered off the road before rolling severally, killing the two women instantly.

Eye witnesses said the driver of the vehicle, which was on high speed, attempted to stop to drop a school kid who was to alight at the junction when he lost control swerving off the road.

Bondo OCPD, Paul Kiarie, warned motorists against speeding.

Those injured were rushed to Bondo Sub-County Hospital while the bodies of the two women were removed to the same hospital’s mortuary.
