Two die after consuming illicit brew in Nandi
Two people died while two others were hospitalized after consuming illicit brew at Ndalat Ward in Nandi County on Sunday.
The two, a man and a woman, were among four others who were rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in critical condition after consuming the killer brew.
According to area chief Philemon Songok, the four victims complained of stomachaches and lost their sight before being rushed to the hospital.
The incident has led to an operation to weed out illegal brewers in the area, with NACADA chairman and his team already in the area to conduct investigations into the case.
At the same time, area chiefs and Nyumba Kumi officials are combing the area to nab anyone selling or producing illegal second-generation liquors.
Residents have been urged to take anyone suspected to have taken illicit alcohol to hospital to avert a disaster, as it is suspected that many people took the alcohol but few have gone for checkup in hospital.
