Property worth thousands of shillings was destroyed after fire gutted down two dormitories at Usenge High School in Bondo sub-county on Friday night.

The two dormitories had a capacity of about 150 students each.

According to Siaya County Director of Education, Masibo Kituyi, the fire was discovered around 9pm as students were attending their evening preps.

The county education boss said no one was injured in the fire, adding that the incident was as a result of suspected arson.

Mr. Kituyi revealed that only a few items were salvaged as the fire spread fast engulfing almost the entire building housing the twin dormitories.

Siaya County Woman Representative Christine Ombaka urged school administrations within the region to embrace dialogue with students to avert such incidences.

Dr. Ombaka also pleaded with students to shun destruction of school property, noting that the consequences of such actions will only burden their parents.
