Two ex-Education Ministry officials slapped with 7-year jail term

A Nairobi court has sentenced two former Ministry of Education officials to seven years in jail.

The two former accountants: Perminus Njoroge Kamau and Kepha Osekon Mareli were found guilty of acquiring public property worth Ksh.2.5 milion shillings.

According to the court papers seen by Citizen Digital, the money withdrawn as imprest from the Central Bank of Kenya .

The court noted that Njoroge failed to comply with procedures which led to the embezzelment of public funds.

“The money could have been saved, he doesn’t deserve the mercy of the court,” the court noted during the sentencing
