Two people have been killed after a plane crashed at Kofia Mbaya in Marsabit on Saturday morning.

The pilot and his co-pilot were the only two people on board the aircraft during the incident.

Photos shared online showed the badly mangled wreckage of the Flight No: 5YJKN as curious locals milled around the crash scene.

In a statement on Saturday, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said probe into the cause of the crash had begun.

According to the statement, the aircraft left Nairobi at around 8.10am and crashed into a hill at around 10.10am.

The plane crash occurred a short distance from where a Kenya military cargo plane crashed in 2006 killing 14 people among them five members of parliament.
