Two fishermen dead after boat capsizes in Lake Victoria

Two fishermen died after their boat capsized near Kabarua Beach in Mageta Island, Lake Victoria.

The fishermen, Andrew Owino, 30, and his colleague, who is still unidentified, drowned after their boat was hit by strong waves.

Mageta Chief, Ambrose Ogema, confirmed the incident saying there were four fishermen  in the boat and two managed to swim to the shores.

“Residents heard people screaming at around 2.00am. They rushed to the scene and the two survivors explained to them what happened,” noted Ogema.
