Two foreign electoral experts hired by NASA deported

The United States Embassy in Nairobi has confirmed that two electoral experts from America and Canada who had been hired to help in next week’s polls by Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) have been deported.

The two are alleged to be among individuals who NASA say were arrested after police raided their tallying center at Sifa Towers in Westlands on Friday, August 4 night.

“Those electoral experts were sharing their experiences with us. They have experience in matters elections. One particular American was molested, thrown into the boot,” said NASA Chief Agent, James Orengo.

Although the National Police Service has accused the opposition of raising false alarm over the alleged raid, the Siaya Senator says that two other foreign electoral experts arrested yesterday (August 4) from Ghana have already been deported.

Orengo, speaking at the NASA offices at Sifa Towers on Saturday, August 5, however, downplayed the alleged raid on NASA offices, saying that the opposition is set to tally presidential results come Tuesday.

“I want to tell them that our systems are intact and they are not going to touch us. I can assure the country and the NASA fraternity that in terms of tallying of results we are prepared even if they are to raid 100 places,” said Orengo.
