Two foreigners, Kenyan arrested over terrorism links in Kitale

The Anti-terrorism Police Unit arrested three terror suspects at a local hotel in Kitale town.

Trans Nzoia county commissioner Sam Ojwang confirmed the incident on Saturday and revealed that two were British citizens and one Kenyan.

“The two suspects (Britons) had expired travelling documents,” he said while addressing locals at Namanjalala Primary School during Madaraka Day celebrations.

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday following a tip off from the public.

They were arraigned in court on Thursday morning and charged for being in the country illegally.

Police requested the court to allow them detain the suspects as they carry on with their investigations.

The three are said to have bought a lavish house in Kitale, raising suspicions of the public upon their arrival two months ago.

The county commissioner urged Kenyans to continue to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
