Two funeral services to be held for Kenneth Matiba

Two public funeral services will be held for the late veteran politician Kenneth Stanley Njindo Matiba who died on Sunday, April 15.

The government committee leading preparations for Matiba’s burial on Tuesday announced that the first service will be held at the All Saints Cathedral Church in Nairobi on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 followed by another service at Ihura Stadium in Murang’a Town on Thursday, April 26, 2018.

The date of the burial is yet to be announced.

The committee, which held a meeting on Tuesday morning said a church service for family and friends would be held at Matiba’s family home in Riara Ridge, Limuru between 2pm and 4pm.

 

Friends and family will congregate everyday from Wednesday, April 18 to Friday, April 20 at the family home in Limuru.

The late veteran politician will be remembered for being at the forefront in shaping Kenya’s political landscape in the fight for multi-party democracy.

On Monday, the government constituted a committee to carry out preparations for Matiba’s burial.

Government Spokesperson Eric Kiraithe said the committee which will also comprise of Matiba’s family members will be chaired by the Head of Public Service, Dr. Joseph Kinyua.
