Two gangsters shot dead in botched robbery in Nairobi

Two suspected gangsters were on Wednesday morning gunned down during a botched robbery attempt along Ronald Ngala Street in Nairobi.

Confirming the incident, Nairobi County Commander Japheth Koome said the two were part of a gang of four who had attempted to rob a shop along the street.

Police managed to recover a G3 rifle with 13 rounds of ammunition from the slain gangsters.

The police boss further stated that police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects who managed to escape during the incident.

Meanwhile, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has thanked anti terror police officers for shooting dead four most wanted terrorists in Malindi on Wednesday.

The four were shot dead at Kwachocha Village at a residential house in the outskirts of Malindi Town at about 4am in a gunfight that lasted for an hour.

Among the suspects was wanted terror suspect Suleiman Mohammed Awadh, and whose head police had put a Ksh 2 million bounty.

Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi said the suspects were ambushed at around 4AM by a contingent of regular police, administration police and CID officers following a tip-off from members of the public.

Musangi said a gun fire exchange ensued and four of the suspects were shot dead, while two others managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Police managed to recover a grenade, a knife, a pistol, mobile phones, a map of Malindi, uniforms, IDs, magazines, photos, among other paraphernalia.

According to the OCPD, the suspects were planning to attack several areas in Malindi including Malindi police station, Malindi Marine Park, and Nakumatt supermarket.

Police say another map showed the terror suspects how to escape from Malindi to Boni forest undetected.

The bodies were taken to Malindi District Hospital as manhunt for the two who escaped commenced.
