Two KBC staff members test positive for COVID-19

Two staff members of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) have tested positive for COVID-19, Managing Director Dr. Naim Bilal has said.

Dr. Bilal, in a memo released on Monday, stated that this comes even as the State broadcaster had implemented a range of measures including setting up 40 hand-washing and 25 sanitization points.

He however still sought to reassure other staff members of their well-being saying a raft of new appropriate regulations have since been put in place to prevent further infection.

“…it has emerged that two of our staff have tested positive for COVID-19. While appropriate protocols have been activated to prevent infection from the affected staff, the situation calls for enhanced personal responsibility within and outside BH to protect ourselves, colleagues, families and others,” he said.

“In this regard, you are reminded to fully comply with all Government’s and our own corporate regulations on COVID-19. Importantly, we must wear our masks regularly at all times at BH and public places, wash or sanitize our hands and observe social-distancing.”

The MD further advised those who may feel unwell to seek medical attention, also adding that those who may have come into contact with the affected staff should test for the coronavirus and self-isolate.
