Two Kenyan truck drivers killed in South Sudan

Two Kenyan truck drivers are reported to have been killed in South Sudan while on their way back to Kenya.

According to Joseph Mutisya, one of the Kenyan truck drivers who operates cargo trucks between Kenya and South Sudan, the militia also injured three other Kenyan drivers during the Tuesday incident.

Mutisya said that the militia, which operates inside South Sudan, extorts money from cargo drivers who operate in the area.

The drivers are now appealing to the Kenya and South Sudan governments to intervene and provide security to them.

Elsewhere, a Nigerian National was arraigned in court and charged with being in possession of articles linked with terrorism activities and for being in the country illegally.

It is alleged that Oluseye Oledaji Shittu was found with a mobile phone containing a video with the intention of committing terror on the 21st of March at Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County.

Oluseye was also found without a valid visa or pass warranting his stay in the country.

The prosecution has objected his release on bail and bond arguing he might flee the country before the case is heard and concluded.

Chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo has directed he be remanded until March 6th when a ruling will be made on his bail and bond terms.
