Two killed as gang on revenge mission attacks Likoni residents

Two people were killed on Saturday at Majengo Mapya area in Likoni, Mombasa County after a violent confrontation ensued following the burial of a suspected gang member in the area.

Gang members angered by the killing of one of their leaders attacked residents with machetes, killing one person before police responded and shot dead one suspected gang member.

Mombasa County Deputy Commissioner Eric Mamlevu says an operation has been launched in the area to weed out the gangs reigning terror on locals.

According to Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich, six suspected gang members have been arrested as a hunt for others continue.

Police believe that the gangs identified as Kasa and military, are behind the killing of more than 15 people in the last one month.
