Two killed as lorry, car collide in Kirinyaga – PHOTOS

Two people died on Monday morning after a car they were travelling in collided head-on with a lorry on Makutano-Ngurubani road, Kirinyaga County.

The victims, a man and woman, were heading to Nairobi from Meru while the lorry was heading to Embu from Nairobi when the accident happened at around 10am.

According to eye-witnesses, the driver of the personal car was navigating a corner when he lost control of the vehicle and got into the lorry’s way, leading to the collision.

The driver of the lorry, which was ferrying biscuits to Embu, escaped the accident unhurt.

The area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Peter Jomo, who was at the scene, said the section of the road where the accident occurred has a sharp bend and steep descent that causes accidents when drivers are not cautious.

The residents called on the local leadership to erect bumps around the area to prevent accidents.
