Two Killed In Baragoi Cattle Raids

The bandits, believed to be from the neighbouring Pokot county drove away with over 1,000 cattle.

The bandits are said to have driven the cattle through the Suguta Valley, famously referred to as 'the valley of death'.

According to residents, the raid poses serious questions on the government's commitment to fighting insecurity in the area.

The attack has forced children from the area to stay away from schools for fear of further attacks.

LASTING SOLUTION

Residents are now blaming the government for what they term as neglect adding that the same bandits had in the past killed police officers, made away with guns and thousands of ammunition.

They further claim that the same group of bandits has on several occasions raided their village.

They now want the Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery to offer a lasting solution to these banditry attacks.

The attack comes just days after the Office of the Ombudsman released a report linking top security officials to the Baragoi massacre that left 42 police officers dead.

Among the top officials mentioned in the report include former Rift Valley Police Commander John M’Mbijiwe and former Anti-stock theft unit boss Remi Ngugi.
