Two killed in grisly accident on Sagana-Karatina Road

Two people died in a grisly accident on the Sagana-Karatina Road in Kirinyaga County on Wednesday.

One other person has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.

The accident that occurred at Kibirigwi involved a saloon car and a lorry belonging to Mombasa Maize Millers.

According to Ndia Police Commander Joseph Mwika, the driver of the lorry was trying to overtake the saloon car when the incident happened.

He said the driver has since been arrested and is being held at Baricho Police Station.

The two bodies were taken to Karatina mortuary.

Curious onlookers gathered at the scene to catch a glimpse of the wreckage.

 

 

 

Last month, three people were killed and seven seriously injured after a lorry hit a matatu on the Embu-Mwea Road in Kirinyaga.

Mwea -West police boss Aden Alio said the matatu was headed to Ngurubani from Makutano while the lorry was headed to Makutano.

In August, Harrison Muteti Katecho (OCS Wang’uru Police Station) died in a road accident near Kamakis area on the Eastern Bypass in Ruiru.

According to police, the OCS lost control of his saloon car, a Toyota Belta and rammed into a lorry.

The lorry had been parked on the left side of the road to pay tax at the Kiambu County cess collection point.
