Two killed in grisly road accident

Two people were on Tuesday killed at Rukanga village in Mutithi Ward of Kirinyaga County after the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a Raange Rover vehicle near the Rukanga AP Camp along Makutano-Sagana-Karatina road.

Confirming the incident, Kirinyaga County AP Commandant Daudi Mohammed said that the motorcycle and the Range Rover were heading in the same direction when the unfortunate accident took place.

“Two middle aged men between 25 and 27 years who were riding the boda boda were hit by a Range Rover and died on the spot. We have the names and number plate details but for now we cannot provide for security purposes as investigations are still underway,” said Mr Mohammed.

The police commander took the opportunity to inform residents that they have received an additional deployment of police officers, adding that more than 100 AP officers that had been in the county for longer than three years have been transferred.

“As you see many police officers in town, it is not that there is a problem, these are changes happening countrywide The President last Friday did a passing out of four thousand new recruits who joined us from all over the country,” he said, adding: “Those who had stayed for more than three years have been transferred to other parts of the country”.
