Two killed in renewed Baringo attacks

Two people have been confirmed dead and one seriously wounded in a fresh banditry attack in Kosile and Ngaratuko Areas in Baringo North Sub-county.

An unknown number of armed bandits are reported to have raided the area on Friday and drove away more than 100 livestock towards Silale in the neighbouring Tiaty Sub-County.

According to a relative of one of the deceased persons, the bandits shot and killed him while he was herding his livestock which were driven away by the bandits.

Baringo North Deputy Commissioner Obwoch Bobwocha said the criminals are taking advantage of the small number of security personnel patrolling the area as most of police officers have been deployed to various schools in the region to man the ongoing KCSE exams.

On Saturday, Baringo North MP William Cheptumo visited the affected families and ironically gunshots could be heard a few kilometres away as the bandits staged another attack.

The MP has urged the government to deploy more security officers to rein in the banditry attacks.
