Two manslaughter suspects get three years prohibition

A Chuka Court has sent two men under prohibition for three years each over manslaughter.

Chuka Magistrate Alfred Mabea handed the two three years prohibition at Marimanti, Tharaka Nithi County.

In the first case, Edward Kinyua Mugambi, 33, pleaded guilty of manslaughter charges in an incident where he was accused of causing the death of a Mr Josephat Murimi Makunyi on January 22, 2013 at Nthanjeni area of Tharaka North.

He told the court that he had confronted his victim over a debt and a fight ensued resulting to the death of Murimi.

In the second case, 36-year-old Tyson Mutwiri, a father of one, was sent on prohibition after the court heard that he stabbed a Mr Stephen Marete Murungi on the neck on January 1, 2012 leading to his death.

The accused claimed that the deceased was often insulting him.

The court ruled that the accused be sent under prohibition officer at Marimanti for three years.
