Two nurses attacked by patients at Mama Lucy Hospital

Two nurses at Mama Lucy Hospital in Nairobi are receiving treatment after being attacked by patients on Saturday night.

According to police officers, three civilians arrived at the hospital and demanded to be attended to immediately without following due procedure.

The nurses, however, reportedly declined to adhere by their demands saying they (nurses) had other pressing emergency cases to attend to; this angered the civilians who then attacked the nurses.

Two people have since been arrested following the incident and are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.

Sources at the hospital who spoke to Citizen T.V, however, stated that many such similar incidents have been recorded at the facility in the past.

According to the nurses, attacks on medical personnel happen across most hospitals across the city when patients show up intoxicated.

24-hour security has since been put in place at the hospital.
