Two People Die After Consuming Illicit Brew In Kerugoya

According to one of the survivors, 50-year-old Daniel Waweru was among those taking beer when one of their colleague arrived with a bottle of what he referred to as “sweet” beer and told them to try it.

 

Mr Waweru was then rushed to hospital unconscious moments later.

 

VERY WEAK

Another colleague, 29-year-old Benson Wanjohi died two hours later, while 48-year-old James Muriuki died later in the evening. 

 

Speaking to the press, the nurse in-charge of ward 4 at the Kerugoya General Hospital, Eunice Gacanga, said the victims were brought in while very weak.

 

According to the Kirinyaga Deputy Police Commander Charles Ontita, police have arrested the owner of the bar and one more suspect. The two are being held at Kerugoya Police Station.

 

Samples of the killer drink have also been collected for analysis.
