Two police Land Cruisers escorting buses burnt by Al Shabaab in Lamu

Several police officers were severely injured on Saturday 13th, January after their police escort car was ambushed by  suspected Al Shabaab militants in Lamu County.

The officers were escorting motorists and passengers plying the Lamu – Mombasa road when they were attacked at Witu area.

The officers engaged the attackers for at least 30 minutes before the attackers fled into a nearby forest.

Buses carrying passengers managed to drive off to safety.
