Two police officers shot dead in Kayole

Two police officers attached to Obama Police Post in Kayole were on Thursday night shot dead near the Saika Dandora bridge.

Police Constables Joel Chesire and Albert Abeere are said to have been ambushed while on duty at Mwengenye area by unknown gunmen.

Two firearms; an AK47 rifle and a Jericho pistol, a police pocket phone and other assorted items were stolen.

Officers at the scene said that five cartridges were recovered at the crime scene.

On September 5 this year, a police officer was shot dead following a shootout with fellow officers on patrol at Coast area in Kawangware, Nairobi County.

Benson Indenje, is reported to have been drunk when a scuffle with boda boda operators ensued at a bus stop in the wee hours of the morning.

Police Constable Indenje had been stationed at Riruta Police Station.

He was rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital at Adams Arcade but pronounced dead on arrival.

It is alleged that the officer had threatened to shoot the boda boda operators.
