Two Police Reservists Killed In Turkana-Pokot Border

The two Kenya Police Reservists (KPRs), who were gunned down on Tuesday morning, are said to have been on patrol when the bandits ambushed them.

It is alleged that the assailants are from one of the two counties and were on a revenge mission.

Ombolion area Chief Joseph Korkimul says that the two officers, who were on a patrol mission in Turkwel Electrical Plant, were attached to his area.

CATTLE RUSTLING

Addressing the press, West Pokot County Commissioner Seif Matata, has called on residents to maintain peace and avoid vengeance following the killings.

The commissioner has also said that stringent measures have been put in place to deal with the issue at hand.

Residents from both counties have on several occasions crashed over prolonged cattle rustling that has stirred up conflict between them.

Earlier this year, residents of Pokot were summoned to surrender illegal fire arms in their possession after a series of killing that had happened in the region.
