Two Robbery Suspects Lynched In Malindi

The suspects had tried to escape after allegedly robbing a boda boda operator and a woman passenger in malindi town.

According to eye witnesses, the third accomplice managed to escape on foot from the angry mob.

The witnesses say it took the angry mob about two hours to catch up with the suspects at around 6PM.

The two were lynched before the police arrived at the scene.

An AK 47 rifle and a pistol with several rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

Cases of robbery in Malindi have been rampant in the area after hundreds of hotel workers were laid off due to poor tourists bookings occasioned by travel advisories.

Last month alone, three boda boda operators were murdered and their bodies dumped at Mayungu and Ganda areas.

Locals say that unsuspecting operators usually risk their lives by ferrying clients at night with some moving out of town thus being waylaid by the criminals.

The two bodies were taken to Star Hospital mortuary as the hunt for the suspect who escaped continues.
