Two Sony Sugar Company employees die mysteriously

Investigations have been launched to unearth the cause of twin deaths of Sony Sugar Company employees who passed away on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

The two female employees, whose names have been withheld by the company, are reported to have collapsed within the manufacturer’s premises.

The company’s Managing Director, Jane Pamela, said the first death incident was reported on Wednesday this week. The employee collapsed in the bathroom at her residence within the company grounds, and she passed on as she was being rushed to hospital.

Barely 24 hours later, a similar incident occurred when another female worker passed on at the company’s health center where she had gone to seek medical attention.

The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the Migori District Hospital Mortuary.

Last month, two men died in the same company after they plunged into a water filled hole that was allegedly dug and left open by the sugar company.

One of the deceased was Uriri District Commissioner’s driver who reportedly slipped and fell into the hole while fetching water to construct a house.

The second man is said to have drowned as he tried to rescue the driver.

Incidences of death have been rampant in the company and the employees are calling on the police officers to establish their security.

Angry residents at Rapogi area in Migori County have pointed an accusing finger at Sony Sugar Company following the deaths.
