Two students killed in Nakuru accident

Two students from Kieni Secondary School in Subukia, Nakuru died on Wednesday morning after they were hit by a speeding lorry near Munanda Trading Centre along the Nakuru-Subukia road.

The two male students were headed to the school when the accident occurred at 6.45am.

According to Kabazi Ward MCA Waithaka Mwangi, who was among the first people to visit the scene, the accident happened when a lorry lost control.

It is said that two lorries were speeding towards Subukia Trading Centre when one of them lost control, hitting the two students.

The two died on the spot, causing a heavy traffic jam as fellow students barricaded the busy road.

Police officers from the nearby Kirengero Police Station arrived promptly and managed to clear the accident scene, taking the two bodies to Nyahururu District Mortuary.

The lorry wreckage was later towed to Kirengero Police Station.

Waithaka decried the poor state of the Nyahururu- Nakuru road, which he said has taken long to complete.
