Two suspects arrested with military uniforms in Homa Bay

Police in Homa Bay County are holding two suspects who were arrested with military uniforms within Sindo Township in Suba South Sub-County.

Suba South Sub-county Police Commander Richard Cheruiyot said the suspects; Harrison Ochieng’ and Manfred Nyaronyi Mirongo, were arrested by detectives acting on a tip off from members of the public.

Police officers raided the suspects’ house near Sindo Trading Centre and recovered several pairs of military uniforms, two pairs of military boots, one pair of flat shoes and a military bag.

According to the police commander, the uniforms nabbed were confirmed to be genuine military fatigue with the service number and a name tag of a military officer who could not be immediately identified.

Police suspect the uniforms were stolen from a military officer and then handed over to the suspects for unknown reasons.

The sub-county police boss added that the suspects are thought to have been carrying out criminal activates in the region using the military uniforms.

He said the suspects continue being in police custody for further interrogation over the matter before they are arraigned.
