Two suspects charged with murder of 7-year-old boy in Kakamega

Two suspects were on Tuesday arraigned at the Kakamega Law Courts for allegedly stabbing a 7-year-old boy to death in Matungu, Kakamega County.

Appearing before Kakamega Resident Magistrate William Lopokoiyit, the accused; Fredrick Chitechi alias Abdalla Mucheva and Aneriko MC Jimmy, were charged that on the evening of May 19, 2019 at Panyako village, Matungu Constituency they stabbed the minor several times with a knife and killed him.

The accused denied the charges but were detained for 14 days as investigations continue.

The court also ordered that the two undergo a mental test at the Kakamega Referral Hospital to ascertain whether they are fit to stand trial.

The case was set for hearing on June 5, 2019.

The alleged attackers are said to have raided the boy’s home at around 7pm while his parents had gone for prayers at a nearby mosque.

Confirming the incident, area OCPD John Matsili said the Class One pupil was repeatedly stabbed on the neck and stomach with a knife.
