Two-week-old baby found abandoned in Nakuru

A two-week old baby was on Friday found abandoned at Jerusalem village in Mwisho wa Lami, Nakuru County.

According to area residents, the infant was abandoned by his mother; a woman who has since been identified as Alice Muthoni.

The residents further alleged that Ms. Muthoni was in a relationship with a man who was not supportive of the infant, leading to her decision to abandon him.

However, speaking to Citizen Digital, Mau Narok ward MCA Jackson Githua said he had intervened in the case and the woman was willing to take back the child.

Mr. Githua added that he had promised financial help to Ms. Muthoni for two months until she gets back on her feet and is able to take care of her baby.

He also stated that such cases have been rampant in the area in the recent past, urging the government to set up an office to cater for children affairs.
