Uasin Gishu County Nurses issue strike notice

Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) has issued a strike notice threatening to paralyze health services in all public health facilities in Uasin-Gishu County.

They stated that they will strike come August 17 over delayed salaries.

Addressing the media in Eldoret town, KNUN chair John Bii said nurses and other health workers have not yet received their July salaries.

According to Bii, the County Government has not communicated to them about the salary delays.

The KNUN chair asserted that they will down their tools until Uasin-Gishu County Government pays them.

If the stalemate between the county government and health workers continues, patients will have to seek treatment from private hospitals.

This comes just four days after Kiambu health workers downed their tools protesting over delayed pay.

They vowed to stay away from their workstations despite hundreds of patients flocking to the facilities seeking medical assistance.
