Uganda President Yoweri Museveni appoints wife Education minister

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni on Monday announced his Cabinet of 80 ministers with minor reshuffles, moving his wife Janet Museveni from Karamoja Affairs minister docket to Education.

Museveni also appointed opposition member and one time presidential aspirant Betty Kamya minister in charge of Kampala Capital City and rewarded Evelyn Anite with the Privatisation State Minister docket.

Anite, a former broadcaster, is the woman who passed the Museveni sole candidate motion that saw Mbabazi’s presidential bid on an NRM docket shuttered.

The president also fired Fred Ruhindi from the Attorney General docket, replacing him with Byaruhanga William.

Ruhindi has been instrumental in getting court orders against Besigye and his group.

Museveni has also fired Dr Elioda Tumwesigye from the Health docket and replaced him with new entrant Acey Jane.

The Head of State however maintain his old guard that he has served with since 1986, including Tumukunde Henry (Security), Adolf Mwesigye (Defence), Kahinde Otafiire (Justice), Sam Kutesa (Foreign Affairs), Jeje Odongo (Internal Affairs), Kirunda Kivejinja (2nd Deputy Prime Minister) and Moses Ali as 1st Deputy Prime Minister.
