Ugandan arrested selling changaa

A Ugandan woman was arrested on Monday at Mashimoni in Kibera Nairobi while in possession of 10 litres of chang’aa after police launched a heavy crackdown on illicit brew.

According to Lainisaba area Assistant Chief Clement Ombati, the woman was caught by police officers while running her chang’aa business despite being warned about it.

Ombati has urged community leaders to come out and aid in the fight against illegal brew that has robbed the local’s, especially young people, peace.

On the other hand, Interior Cabinet Secretary Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery has warned police officers against allowing members of the public to destroy property in the pretext of destroying illicit alcohol.

Nkaissery is currently touring parts of Rift Valley and Central regions where he has inspected some of the destroyed alcohol factories.
