Uhuru asks Meru voters to back Jubilee
President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Meru residents to back Jubilee, citing development projects initiated by the government in the region as the main reason why they should rally behind his re-election bid.
During his tour of the Mt Kenya region, the Head of State said that his administration is constructing new roads and rehabilitating of old ones in Meru County.
“The national government has set aside over Ksh21 billion for construction of new roads and improvement of infrastructure in this county with Kshs7.5 billion allocated for the construction of new roads and Ksh5 billion to renovate old ones,” said the Jubilee Party leader.
The President said that his administration had initiated the construction of several roads covering a stretch of 350 kilometers in Meru in the past four years.
“We want to continue the work we are doing. But we also want you to give us a strong Jubilee team led by Kiraitu Murungi,” pleaded President Kenyatta.
Deputy President William Ruto Ruto asked Meru residents to reject opposition’s attempts to derail ongoing development by turning out in large numbers to vote for Jubilee in the August 8th General Election.
The Jubilee duo were accompanied by Senator Kiraitu Murungi, Women Representative Florence Kajuju, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi and his Igembe South counterpart Mithika Linturi.
