

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday met officers in the senior ranks of the Executive to discuss Government priorities for the current calendar year.
The meeting brought together Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries and Principal Secretaries to deliberate on the status of ongoing National Government programmes covering Big 4 Agenda and Vision 2030 flagship projects among other matters.
The President outlined to the officers his vision and priorities for this year, top among them the completion of ongoing Government projects and programmes across all sectors and regions of the country.
Further, the President instructed the Officials to ensure prudent utilisation of public resources in service delivery saying Kenyans must always get the highest value return for their money.
The Head of State urged the Officers to embrace teamwork and unity of purpose so as to deliver the promise of a better and prosperous Kenya for all.
The meeting comes a day after President Kenyatta made a few changes to senior ranks of the Executive with new appointments and re-alignments in various ministries.

President Kenyatta said the changes are meant to foster operational efficiency, institutionalise and expedite the implementation of various ground-breaking reforms, and introduce functional changes that shall make Ministries and State Departments more effective and better able to deliver on their mandates.
“The changes are also in recognition of the momentous task of setting the foundation for building back better, as Kenya rebounds from the socioeconomic shocks of the coronavirus pandemic,” read the circular.
Among the changes are the merger of the State Department for Mining with the State Department for Petroleum into a single State Department within the Ministry of Petroleum & Mining so as to promote the sustainable development of the extractives sector.
