Uhuru: My govt has done more in 7 years than all other 3 presidents combined

Still on Madaraka Day celebrations, President Uhuru Kenyatta used the event to table his scorecard.

President Kenyatta used the 58 Madaraka Day address to outline his administrations track record, saying under his leadership the country had made strides in various sectors.

In his words, the president stated that in a little under 7 years he had done more than founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the late Daniel Arap Moi and retired President Mwai Kibaki.

“The colonisers left us with a GDP of close to Ksh. 6.4b, the combined administrations of Mzee Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki increased the national cake to Ksh.4.5 trillion, in a span of 50 years, but in only 8 years I have; has doubled that, and we are worth 10.3 trillion,” President Uhuru said.

And seemingly reading from the same script was the second-in-command, Deputy President William Ruto.

“The success that the administration that you lead has shown in infrastructure development brings into sharp focus the next phase of our development,” DP Ruto said.

The president appearing to tell off critics of his administration who have accused him of failing to deliver.

“The national question we must ask this afternoon is whether we are on track in liberating our people from the poverty of dignity,” President Kenyatta posed.

The president outlined achievements in infrastructure projects including roads, rail and health sectors.

He said that in over 100 years no other country in the East African Community and Africa had constructed a port, saying the newly launched Lamu and Kisumu ports will transform the transshipment sector and place Kenya on the map in the oil transportation sector.

While hailing the land reforms that have been instituted, the president revealed that in 50 years the three previous administrations had issued 6 million title deeds, while his government had in 7 years issued 5.1million title deeds…
