Uhuru-Raila joint Nyanza tour not happening

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has rubbished claims of a joint tour to Nyanza with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to the media at Orange House in Nairobi, the former Prime Minister said media reports on the tour are “inaccurate.”

On Tuesday, Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o  also denied the reports terming them as “rumours” and urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports.

Odinga further dismissed speculation of a looming Cabinet reshuffle saying he has no role in the matter.

This follows speculation around the country pointing to a looming cabinet reshuffle occasioned by the “handshake” between President Kenyatta and Mr. Odinga.

The ODM party leader was speaking after a closed-door meeting where the party settled on Ochillo Ayacko as their candidate of choice in the Migori Senatorial by-election slated for October 8, 2018.

Odinga said Ayacko’s choice was unanimous following extensive consultations within the party.

Also present was former Migori MP John Pesa and Willis Oluoch, the son of the late Senator Ben Oluoch, who had showed interest in running for the same seat but vowed to support Mr .Ayacko.

This brings the number of candidates down to five from seven.

The remaining candidates include; Former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno, Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) Migori branch Executive Secretary Orwa Jasolo, former KUPPET Chairman Kennedy Makasembo, former Awendo parliamentary aspirant George Maando and educationist Solomon Hodo.
