Uhuru, Ruto in Nakuru for Madaraka Day celebrations
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are leading Kenyans in marking the 53rd Madaraka Day celebrations at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru County.
Both President Uhuru and Ruto have arrived at the stadium.
This is the first time the country is celebrating Madaraka Day outside the capital city, Nairobi.
Meanwhile, the gates of Afraha Stadium were closed early enough, locking out hundreds of spectators who had turned up for the event.
