UPDATED: Uhuru takes an early lead

President Uhuru Kenyatta is taking an early lead even as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) continues to tally votes from across the country.

By the time of going to press as at 11:30 am, President Kenyatta was leading with 7,906,062 votes 54.35% against his closest challenger Raila Odinga’s 6,513,303 votes 44.77%.

So far,   38,249  out of 40,883 polling stations have transmitted their results to the National Tallying Centre at the Bomas of Kenya.

So far, IEBC has tallied 14,939,066 votes out of the possible 19,611,423. Out of the already tallied ballot, 4,559 votes stand disputed and another 387,667 have been rejected.

Other presidential candidates and the votes garnered are as follows:

 

Joseph William Nthiga Nyagah –39,046 votes 0.25%

John Ekuru Longoggy Aukot –26,050 votes 0.18%

Mohamed Abduba Dida –34,452 votes 0.24%

Japheth Kavinga Kaluyu –11,219 votes 0.08%

Shakhalaga Khwa Jirongo –10,862 votes 0.07%

Michael Wainaina Mwaura –8,558 votes 0.06%
