Uhuru targets a food secure Turkana in second term
President Uhuru Kenyatta is targeting a food and nutrition secure Turkana County during his second and last term in office.
Speaking to a delegation of elected leaders at State House, Nairobi on Friday February 2, President Kenyatta pledged to ensure food security and adequate supply of water in the county.
“It is my goal that by the end of my second term we shall not see television images of Turkana as desolate and hit by lack of food,” said President Kenyatta.
The Head of State noted that to accomplish that, the county’s elected leaders would have to work together to deliver development and improve the lives of their people.
The Head of State further intimated his plan to showcase transformation of Turkana County as one of his key achievements during his second term.
Food security and nutrition, affordable housing, enhanced manufacturing and affordable healthcare for all are all part of the President’s Big Four Agenda.
