Uhuru tells off LOOSE-TONGUED MPs following Millie Odhiambo rant

President Uhuru Kenyatta has torn into opposition legislators, saying they lack progressive agenda and “are only good at making threats and hurling insults”, whose purpose is to polarise the nation.

Addressing Thika residents after the launch of a motor vehicle assembly plant, President Kenyatt foreboded a loss for the opposition in 2017 polls following their “ungovernable” behaviour.

“Our colleagues lack agenda that can take the nation forward. They are only good at insults. You saw and heard them abuse (me) yesterday (Tuesday, December 20). The kind of madness you saw them exhibit will be their undoing in next year’s national polls. I have said it repeatedly: the eyes of a frog cannot scare a cow from drinking water at a source,” said the President to the applause by Thika residents, who had gathered by the roadside to listen to his address.

“A few people won’t hold others hostage by their threats and abuses. They are not intimidating anyone.”

The President distanced his government from the politics of mudslinging, saying his administration is committed to holding a fair General Election in 2017.

“They (opposition) are not interested in development; they only want to make noise. Our goal is to ensure there is unity in Kenya. We won’t waste time responding to insults from people who don’t have progressive agenda. In August next year, Kenyans expect an open and transparent general election. As government, we will ensure that the two (openness and transparency) are observed in the national polls.”

The President’s fury toward the opposition was renewed Tuesday when Mbita Member of Parliament, Millie Odhiambo, verbally attacked him in Parliament buildings, Nairobi.

The Mbita legislator asked President Kenyatta to “stop harassing Kenyans by barring MPs from accessing parliament for the special sitting”.

Ms Odhiambo claimed that picketing legislators had been asked by the police to remove their shoes and walk to Parliament.

“I dedicated this day to telling the President all the negative things I have. We fought for this country as he was in foreign land so President Uhuru cannot dictate his powers to me or any other elected member,” scoffed Millie Odhiambo.

The vocal lawmaker continued her gripe, which sections perceived as foulmouthed, calling the head of state “fake” and assuring him that he won’t be re-elected as President in 2017 general election.

Millie Odhiambo hurled further a series of insults toward Uhuru, daring the President to “take her to court”.

President Kenyatta on Tuesday evening while presiding over the historic lighting of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi – to usher in the Christmas festive season –, referred to an MP who insulted him in Parliament on Tuesday, likely to be Millie Odhiambo, as an “idiot” who was exercising her right of expression.

“To my left is the National Assembly representing our democracy and the ability of some idiots in there to continue insulting me, but that is their freedom…,” said the Head of State while commencing his official speech.

President Kenyatta said lighting of the KICC signified the spirit of togetherness.

“But what does this lighting represent? Well, Christmas is coming.  As usual, Kenyans will gather with their families and their loved ones to reconnect and to renew the bonds that tie us together,” President Kenyatta said.

He added: “Today, let us celebrate this lighting of KICC, and then, let us resolve to keep that flame of unity alive in our hearts, and in the hearts. Let us just rekindle that spirit of unity.”

President Kenyatta – who was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta – described KICC as a historic building and one of the iconic projects of independent Kenya.
