President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump on an official visit to the White House on August 27, 2018.

In a communiqué issued on Monday, White House said President Trump and President Kenyatta will discuss ways to broaden the strategic partnership between the US and Kenya.

“The meeting between the two leaders will reaffirm the longstanding relationship between the United States and Kenya as a cornerstone of peace and stability in Africa and the broader Indo-Pacific region,” reads part of the statement.

“President Trump and President Kenyatta will explore ways to bolster trade and investment between the two countries, while strengthening security cooperation.”

State House spokesperson Kanze Dena has confirmed Kenyatta’s planned visit to the US, saying he was invited by the US president.

President Kenyatta will be the third African Head of State to meet Trump at the White House after Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari and Abdel Fattah Al Sisi of Egypt.
