Uhuru visits ex-President Moi to condole with him after death of his son Jonathan
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday visited retired President Daniel arap Moi at his Kabarak home to personally convey his message of condolence following the death of his son Jonathan Moi.
“On behalf of himself and the Government of Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta said he was greatly saddened by the death of Jonathan,” said Moi’s press secretary and personal assistant Lee Njiru, in a statement.
President Kenyatta was received by Senator Gideon Moi.
The late president’s son, Jonathan, succumbed to cancer at a hospital in Nakuru on Saturday.
Jonathan Moi stayed away from the limelight after vying for the Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat in 2002.
He chose to concentrate on his businesses in the agriculture, real estate and insurance sectors.
The 66-year-old was mostly known for his love of Safari Rally that saw him participate in several competitions.
He was the first-born son to former President Moi and his late wife Lena.
His siblings are Gideon, Jennifer, John Mark, Raymond, Philip, June and Doris.
