Uhuru: We beat them in 2013 with ICC charges, how can NASA beat us now?

President Uhuru Kenyatta has remained upbeat that he will trounce National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga in the coming August 8 polls, based on the projects that the Jubilee administration has rolled out since it took office in 2013.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Bungoma County on Sunday, May 11, Uhuru asked the public to vote for Jubilee based on their development track record, adding that another term would give them time to finalise the projects that they have for Kenyans.

“We beat them in 2013 when they were Prime Ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers and Vice Presidents…all the while we were facing ICC charges. What will make them beat us in 2017? It is impossible. Vote for us, Jubilee, this time round to continue with the projects we have already started,” said President Kenyatta.

According to Uhuru, NASA has already sensed defeat and its top leaders have plan B, further claiming that Raila Odinga’s running-mate Kalonzo Musyoka has fronted his name to be nominated in the next senate parliament in case of a defeat.

Deputy President, William Ruto, maintained that NASA lacks a clear agenda for Kenya.

“Jubilee has a policy and agenda for Kenyans but not NASA. In 2017 it is a foregone conclusion, president Kenyatta will win; let us meet in 2022 where you will meet me,” said the DP.

He also promised to ensure that his government rolls out more projects in the region.

“This road we will liaise with Lusaka and we will tarmac. We have already started in Brigadier area. Electricity bills that you used to pay bills of 70,000 now we have significantly lowered. This time round lets be together. We must build this country using action and not empty rhetoric of NASA,” added Mr. Ruto.
