Uhurus government was formed in my house Jimmy Wanjigi

Embattled businessman Jimmy Wanjigi has today revealed details on behind-the-scenes lobbying that saw the formation of the current government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Wanjigi said the Jubilee government, which is now “persecuting” him, was formed in his Muthaiga residence where police on Monday this week laid a siege that would last for 72 hours.

“This current regime of Uhuru Kenyatta, this is a home they know. It is a home they have visited. It is a home they have eaten with my family. In fact, their government was formed in this home,” Wanjigi said during a press conference attended by Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and other top opposition leaders.

He disclosed that after the Supreme Court upheld Uhuru’s victory in 2013, Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta met in his house and agreed to a peace declaration.

“I also want to say further after the last general election in 2013, it is this home here that Baba (Raila Odinga) agreed to come to shake hands with Uhuru Kenyatta after the Supreme Court had upheld his victory,” said Mr Wanjigi.

“It is in this home on Easter Monday that Baba agreed to come and I remember praying excessively that day because I said I’m such a blessed man that in this home and my family to have 10 million plus Kenyans in my home. I felt very blessed. It is here that a peace declaration was accepted and a progress forward to Uhuru’s own acceptance of leadership in 2013. It is this same home that the same regime has come to desecrate.”

Wanjigi maintained his innocence adding that all the accusations of owning illegal firearms that have been leveled against him have been “fabricated” to persecute him over his political stand.

Wanjigi, whose whereabouts were unknown for the last two days, came out of hiding after police left his residence in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

He is said to have locked himself up in what is believed to be a strongroom since Monday, October 16.

“Were it not for Raila, I don’t know where my family would be right now,” Wanjigi said in the press address called by opposition leaders.
