Nic Hailey replaces Christian Turner as UK High Commissioner to Kenya

The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on Monday announced the appointment of Mr Nic Hailey as the new British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the office said Mr Hailey would succeed the current High Commissioner, Dr Christian Turner, in December 2015.

The statement also indicated that Dr Turner would then be transferred to another diplomatic appointment.

The incoming High Commissioner Mr Hailey is currently the FCO Director for Africa, a position he has held since 2013.

Prior to this he held postings in Kabul, Washington, Paris and Berlin.

Mr Hailey is expected to be joined in Nairobi by his wife and two daughters.

On his appointment, Mr Hailey said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya. I look forward to arriving in Kenya as our historic partnership reaches a new level, based on shared interests, trust and mutual respect.”
